Custom Fitted Kitchens

A kitchen works best when its storage, work surfaces and appliance spaces suit the way you use the room. We design and make custom fitted kitchens around your available space, your preferred layout and the items you need to store.

Whether you need a completely new kitchen, cabinets for an awkward area or an island that provides more storage and preparation space, we plan the details with you before any materials are cut. You can choose the arrangement, door style, internal storage, materials and finish so the completed kitchen works for your household.

What Can Our Custom Fitted Kitchens Include?

We can design the main cabinetry and individual storage features as one coordinated installation. The exact combination will depend on the dimensions of your room, your appliances and how you want to use each part of the kitchen.

Your design could include:

  • Base cabinets with shelves, drawers or divided storage
  • Wall cupboards and full-height kitchen units
  • Housings planned around ovens, fridges and other appliances
  • Tall larder or pantry cupboards
  • Corner cabinets and units for unusual spaces
  • A kitchen island with storage, seating or additional work surface
  • Open shelves and display sections
  • Matching end panels, plinths and visible finishing details

Our custom fitted kitchens can combine open and closed storage so everyday items remain easy to reach while other equipment can be kept behind doors. We can also coordinate the proportions and finishes across the whole room.

How Do We Plan Custom Fitted Kitchens Around Your Room?

We begin by discussing how you cook, which appliances you use and where you need the most storage and preparation space. We then consider the room dimensions and the position of doors, windows and existing services.

Your kitchen may follow a straight, galley, L-shaped or U-shaped layout, or include an island where there is enough room. We look at how you will move between the main work areas and where drawers, cupboards and appliances will be easiest to access.

Before construction begins, we agree the main layout, cabinet dimensions, door arrangement, materials and visible details with you. Designing everything first allows the cabinetry to be made for your room instead of relying on standard combinations.

What Storage Can You Include in Made-to-Measure Kitchen Units?

Made-to-measure kitchen units allow you to use the available wall width and height more carefully. They can also provide practical storage where standard cabinet sizes would leave an unused gap or make a corner difficult to access.

We can include deep drawers for pots and pans, shelves for tableware, tall cupboards for food and separate sections for trays or smaller appliances. Bespoke kitchen cabinets can also be divided internally according to the items you want to organise.

If you prefer some items to remain visible, open shelving can be added between cupboards or at the end of a cabinet run. This can follow the same made-to-measure approach as our Custom Built In Shelving.

How Can a Bespoke Kitchen Island Work for You?

A bespoke kitchen island can provide more preparation space while adding drawers, cupboards or open shelving below. Depending on the size of the room, it can also include an overhanging worktop for seating.

We plan the island around the clear space needed to move through the kitchen and open nearby doors, drawers and appliances. Its dimensions, storage and finish can coordinate with the surrounding cabinetry or create a deliberate contrast.

An island does not need to follow a standard rectangular arrangement. If the room requires a different proportion or storage layout, we can develop the design around the available floor space.

What Materials, Doors and Finishes Can You Choose?

For custom fitted kitchens, the materials and finishes need to suit the intended appearance and everyday use of the cabinetry. We can work with options including painted MDF, melamine-faced boards and timber details.

Your doors can have a Shaker-style or flat-panel design, depending on whether you prefer a traditional or simpler frontage. You can also choose handles and other visible fittings that work with the door proportions and colour.

Internal finishes do not need to match the exterior. For example, you may choose a durable melamine interior with painted doors and end panels. We discuss these combinations with you so the materials are used where they make the most practical sense.

We Plan Cabinetry Around Your Appliances

Yes. Cabinet openings and housings can be planned around the dimensions of your chosen appliances. This may include ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines and smaller appliances that need a dedicated position.

We need the correct appliance specifications before the surrounding cabinetry is finalised. This helps us allow for door clearance, ventilation requirements and access where necessary. It also ensures appliance spaces align properly with neighbouring cupboards and drawers.

If your kitchen connects to a laundry or storage area, we can coordinate the cabinetry with our approach to Custom Utility Room Carpentry.

Why Choose Custom Fitted Kitchens?

A custom kitchen gives you more control over the dimensions and internal arrangement than a range based only on standard cabinet sizes. You can decide where storage is needed, which cupboards should be wider or taller, and how the visible features should work together.

This is particularly useful in rooms with uneven walls, restricted corners or limited floor space. Custom kitchens can also make better use of the area around structural features, windows and existing appliances.

Because we design and make the cabinetry for your project, we can discuss practical details with you from the beginning. Our approach to bespoke kitchens keeps the layout focused on how you will use the room rather than applying the same arrangement to every home.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you design and make the kitchen cabinets?

Yes. We design and make the cabinetry around your room and storage requirements. We agree the dimensions, layout, materials and visible details with you before construction begins.

Can you make a kitchen for a small or awkward room?

Yes. Made-to-measure cabinetry can be planned around narrow walls, unusual corners and rooms where standard units would leave unused areas. We will help you decide which storage features should take priority.

Can my kitchen include an island?

Yes, provided the room has enough space for safe movement and access around the surrounding cabinets and appliances. We can size the island around the room and the storage, seating or work surface you want to include.

Can you update part of an existing kitchen?

We can discuss whether new cabinets, replacement doors, additional storage or a wider kitchen update is suitable. The right approach will depend on the condition and construction of the existing units.

How much does a custom kitchen cost?

The cost depends on the size, number of cabinets, materials, door design, internal storage, fittings and finish. We will provide a quotation after discussing your room and the proposed design.
