How Do We Plan Custom Fitted Kitchens Around Your Room?

We begin by discussing how you cook, which appliances you use and where you need the most storage and preparation space. We then consider the room dimensions and the position of doors, windows and existing services.

Your kitchen may follow a straight, galley, L-shaped or U-shaped layout, or include an island where there is enough room. We look at how you will move between the main work areas and where drawers, cupboards and appliances will be easiest to access.

Before construction begins, we agree the main layout, cabinet dimensions, door arrangement, materials and visible details with you. Designing everything first allows the cabinetry to be made for your room instead of relying on standard combinations.

What Storage Can You Include in Made-to-Measure Kitchen Units?

Made-to-measure kitchen units allow you to use the available wall width and height more carefully. They can also provide practical storage where standard cabinet sizes would leave an unused gap or make a corner difficult to access.

We can include deep drawers for pots and pans, shelves for tableware, tall cupboards for food and separate sections for trays or smaller appliances. Bespoke kitchen cabinets can also be divided internally according to the items you want to organise.

If you prefer some items to remain visible, open shelving can be added between cupboards or at the end of a cabinet run. This can follow the same made-to-measure approach as our Custom Built In Shelving.

How Can a Bespoke Kitchen Island Work for You?

A bespoke kitchen island can provide more preparation space while adding drawers, cupboards or open shelving below. Depending on the size of the room, it can also include an overhanging worktop for seating.

We plan the island around the clear space needed to move through the kitchen and open nearby doors, drawers and appliances. Its dimensions, storage and finish can coordinate with the surrounding cabinetry or create a deliberate contrast.

An island does not need to follow a standard rectangular arrangement. If the room requires a different proportion or storage layout, we can develop the design around the available floor space.

What Materials, Doors and Finishes Can You Choose?

For custom fitted kitchens, the materials and finishes need to suit the intended appearance and everyday use of the cabinetry. We can work with options including painted MDF, melamine-faced boards and timber details.

Your doors can have a Shaker-style or flat-panel design, depending on whether you prefer a traditional or simpler frontage. You can also choose handles and other visible fittings that work with the door proportions and colour.

Internal finishes do not need to match the exterior. For example, you may choose a durable melamine interior with painted doors and end panels. We discuss these combinations with you so the materials are used where they make the most practical sense.

We Plan Cabinetry Around Your Appliances

Yes. Cabinet openings and housings can be planned around the dimensions of your chosen appliances. This may include ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines and smaller appliances that need a dedicated position.

We need the correct appliance specifications before the surrounding cabinetry is finalised. This helps us allow for door clearance, ventilation requirements and access where necessary. It also ensures appliance spaces align properly with neighbouring cupboards and drawers.
