Custom Art Office Shelving and Built-In Desk in Reigate, Surrey

For this art office project in Reigate, our Carpenter Reigate team designed and built an unpainted MDF interior for a small room. The client is an artist who needed a dedicated place to work, together with storage for paintings and books. We used the available walls to create open shelving around the room and connected it to a built-in desk, giving each section a clear purpose without relying on separate furniture.

Art Office Shelving Designed Around the Room

The shelving follows the room into the corner and changes height beneath the sloping ceiling. Compartments of different widths and heights provide space for books and artwork, while a separate bank of vertical sections allows paintings to be stored upright.

A lower cupboard adds enclosed storage beneath the main shelving. The arrangement shows how custom built in shelving can be planned around an unusual room shape while keeping stored items visible and within reach.

Art Office Desk with Connected MDF Storage

The built-in desk continues from the shelving into the corner, with a shaped front edge and a clear working area near the window. The desk shows how custom office carpentry services can be adapted for an artist rather than based on a standard rectangular workstation. 

The desk, shelves and storage compartments were all built from unpainted MDF, leaving the surfaces ready for the client’s chosen finish. By designing the pieces together, we created a continuous layout for artwork, books and everyday office use.
