Custom MDF Office Unit and Kitchen Island in Crawley Down, Mid Sussex

For this project in Crawley Down, our Carpenter West Sussex team designed and built two pieces: a fitted office unit and a matching kitchen island. Both were made from MDF and designed around how the client wanted to use each room. The office combines a desk with storage, while the island adds cupboards and open shelves to the existing kitchen.

Custom MDF Office Unit with Open Shelving and Desk

The office unit has open shelving across its upper section, divided into compartments for books, files and display pieces. A desk runs across the lower section, with clear space for a chair in the centre. 

On either side, cupboards with Shaker-style doors provide enclosed storage and include shelves inside. Bringing these parts together in one wall-fitted design gives the client a practical place to work and shows how custom office carpentry services can be planned for a specific room.

Matching MDF Kitchen Island with Cupboard Storage

The kitchen island was made to complement the cabinetry already in the room and provide storage at the centre of the kitchen. Plain doors open to shelves on one side, while the open shelves at the end give the client a place for frequently used pieces or display. 

We sized the island around the room, as we do with fitted kitchens, leaving enough space to move comfortably around it. Using MDF also keeps the construction consistent with the office unit completed during the same project.
