Custom Wardrobes, Shelving and Desks in Richmond, London

For this home in Richmond, London, we created fitted wardrobes, children’s room shelving and desks. The wardrobes combine IKEA carcasses with custom-made MDF extensions, doors and panels. We developed the designs with the client, adapting each installation to the room’s dimensions and ceiling height.

Fitted Wardrobes with IKEA Carcasses and Custom Shaker-Style Doors

The largest fitted wardrobe spans the wall, using IKEA carcasses for the lower sections. We built additional MDF carcasses above them, extending the storage beyond the height of the IKEA units. Custom-made Shaker-style doors cover both levels, giving the wardrobe a consistent appearance across the complete run.

In another room, we built a wardrobe beneath a sloping ceiling. IKEA carcasses again form the lower sections, with MDF compartments added above. The outer upper sections follow the ceiling angles, while the custom doors carry matching Shaker-style detailing across the front.

Built-In MDF Shelving for the Children’s Room

We also made built-in shelving from MDF for the children’s room. Open compartments of different widths provide space for books and other belongings, with four open cubbies at the base.

The unit fits into the recess beside the existing fireplace. Its upper shelves and lower compartments combine accessible storage within one fitted piece.

Three-Door Wardrobe, Tongue-and-Groove Panelling and Desks

A further three-door wardrobe uses IKEA carcasses fitted with custom-made MDF doors and end panels. We also added tongue-and-groove panelling and custom desks with drawers, bringing clothing storage and desk space into the room.
