Custom Alcove Wardrobes and Under-Eaves Storage in Golders Green, London

For this home in Golders Green, London, we built a pair of matching alcove wardrobes and a custom under-eaves storage wall. Both installations combine hanging space, shelving and drawers with Shaker-style door fronts.

Custom Alcove Wardrobes with Hanging Rails and Internal Drawers

The floor-to-ceiling alcove wardrobe pair sits on either side of the central chimney breast. The left double-door unit contains upper shelves, a full-length polished chrome hanging rail and four stacked internal drawers on heavy-duty runners.

The right wardrobe has two slim doors and two internal compartments. Open shelves on one side provide space for shoes and folded clothing, while the other section has an upper shelf and a hanging rail.

We used standard 18mm MDF for the carcasses and internal shelving, with MR-MDF door fronts and applied Shaker face mouldings. Concealed 35mm soft-close cabinet hinges and vertical black bar pull handles complete the door hardware.

Custom Loft Wardrobe with Angled Cupboards and Open Shelving

The under-eaves fitted wardrobe was scribed to the angled ceiling pitch. A full-height double-door wardrobe on the right provides internal shelving and two chrome hanging rails.

Central open shelving sits above a base drawer, while a low double-door cabinet on the far left follows the lowest ceiling slope. The fitted sections provide storage across the changing roof height.

We made the carcass from hand-scribed 18mm MDF panels and fitted MR-MDF Shaker-style doors with internal soft-close hinges. High-capacity ball-bearing slides support the base drawer, and antique brass cup and knob hardware completes the fronts.
