Custom Acoustic Slat Wall with a Hidden Door in Hammersmith, London

For this property in Hammersmith, London, we built a full-width custom acoustic slat wall with a concealed pivot door. The wood-veneered slats continue across the doorway, providing access to the adjoining space while keeping the wall’s appearance consistent.

Custom Wood-Veneered Slats with Black Acoustic Felt

We used real wood-veneered MDF slats mounted onto black acoustic felt made from recycled polyester. The backing provides a sound-absorbing layer behind the slats, with the black felt contrasting against the natural wood veneer.

The wall was built onto a timber stud frame and finished with a matte clear seal. This retains the visible wood grain and gives the veneer a low-sheen finish across the full width of the feature wall.

Custom Hidden Pivot Door within the Slat Wall

The concealed jib door was incorporated into the wall with matching slatted panelling across its face. When closed, it sits flush with the surrounding wall, allowing the vertical slat pattern to continue across the opening.

Concealed pivot hardware allows the door to open into the adjoining space. The matching veneer and black felt carry the wall finish across the door, bringing the access point and acoustic panelling together in one fitted design.
