Custom Alcove Bookcases and Radiator Covers in Richmond, London

We built and fitted custom alcove bookcases and radiator covers for a home in Richmond, London. The project combines open shelving, enclosed cupboard storage and decorative joinery, with warm lighting built into the bookcases.

Custom Alcove Bookcases with Warm LED Lighting

The two custom bookcases sit on either side of the chimney breast. We constructed the units from raw MDF, using moisture-resistant MDF door frames and pine cornices along the tops. Fluted pilasters frame the shelving, while double-door cupboards provide enclosed storage beneath each bookcase.

Each unit has a different shelving arrangement. One contains two columns of shelving throughout the upper section, while the other includes a larger open recess above its base cupboard. Integrated warm LED strips run along the vertical edges, illuminating the shelves and highlighting the surrounding detailing.

Custom Radiator Covers with Decorative Lattice Grilles

We also made custom radiator covers in several widths to suit radiators around the home. Built from raw MDF, the covers feature projecting top shelves and decorative laser-cut cloverleaf lattice fronts.

The covers include both single-panel and multi-panel grille designs, with ventilation slots beneath the tops and openings along the bottom edges. The MDF surfaces remain unpainted, ready for preparation and painting.
