Custom Floating Shelves and Concealed Storage in Camden, London

For this property in Camden, London, we built custom floating shelves, an angled under-stairs wardrobe and a floor-to-ceiling utility unit. The project combines natural oak detailing with flush white cabinet doors and a contrasting deep navy coffee niche.

Custom Alcove Shelving and Under-Stairs Wardrobe

Three thick custom floating shelves fit flush within the painted alcove recess. A clear finish preserves the natural oak grain and warm timber tone against the ochre walls. Heavy-duty concealed steel brackets secure the shelves to the wall structure, keeping the fixings hidden.

The custom under-stairs wardrobe follows the staircase rake with three handleless doors. Push-latch mechanisms open the flush fronts, while the 18mm MDF door panels are spray-painted white in a smooth, low-sheen finish.

Inside, two chrome hanging rails combine with open shelving and internal drawers to provide storage for hanging clothes, folded items and smaller belongings. The drawers run on full-extension soft-close slides, and the doors have concealed 110° soft-close hinges.

Custom Concealed Utility Unit with a Navy Coffee Niche

The built-in utility unit extends from floor to ceiling, with white-painted flat-panel MDF doors fitted flush to the surrounding walls. Concealed wide-angle soft-close hinges provide access to the storage compartments.

An open matte deep navy niche provides space for preparing coffee and drinks. Its matching work surface has cut-outs for a mini sink and waste chute, with overhead lighting illuminating the recess. Fittings include a stainless steel undermount mini sink, a compact mixer tap with a brushed gold-tone finish, and stainless steel power and USB outlets.

Raw MDF internal shelving houses AV distribution boxes, network equipment and utility storage behind the full-height doors.
