Custom Plywood Alcove Units, Wardrobes and Boiler Cupboard in Lambert, London

For this home in Lambert, London, we built alcove cabinets, floating shelves, fitted wardrobes and a sliding-door boiler cupboard. The birch plywood cabinetry retains its visible grain and exposed layered edges, combining enclosed storage with open shelving.

Custom Alcove Cabinets and Floating Shelves

Our custom-made alcove units fit into the recesses beside the chimney breasts. The low cabinets have double doors and internal shelves, dividing the cupboard space into separate storage levels. Panelled fronts and projecting tops carry matching details across each pair.

In one room, three floating shelves sit above each base cabinet, providing open storage for books and display pieces. The shelves span the alcoves while leaving the chimney breast visible between them. Exposed plywood edges add detail to the cabinet tops, doors and internal shelving.

Custom Fitted Wardrobes and Sliding-Door Utility Storage

We fitted two floor-to-ceiling custom wardrobes into the bedroom alcoves. Each wardrobe has tall panelled doors, an upper shelf, a hanging rail and three internal pull-out drawers. The drawers provide separate storage beneath the hanging space and remain concealed when the doors are closed.

We also made a custom utility cupboard with two frame-and-panel sliding doors. These conceal a wall-mounted boiler on one side and a tall shelved compartment on the other. The sliding doors allow either section to be opened without a door swinging into the room.

Concealed soft-close hardware complements the fitted cabinetry, keeping the external appearance focused on the panelled doors and natural plywood grain.
