Custom Built-In Wardrobe in East Grinstead, West Sussex

For this property in East Grinstead, West Sussex, we built a four-door custom fitted bedroom wardrobe around ceiling beams and a sloping eaves return. The Shaker-style design combines hanging space, lower cubbies and a vertical shelving column, with additional top-box storage above the left bay.

Custom Shaker Wardrobe Scribed around Ceiling Beams

We scribed the cabinetry around the ceiling beams and shaped the return to suit the sloping eaves. This allows the wardrobe beneath the sloping ceiling to fit the bedroom’s changing ceiling line.

Cabinet-grade MDF was used for the carcasses, shelves and doors. We fitted concealed European soft-close cup hinges and round ball knobs to the Shaker-style doors.

Custom Wardrobe Interior with Hanging Space and Shelving

The left bay has a full-width chrome-plated steel hanging rail, with lower cubbies for shoes and folded clothing. Upper top-box storage adds space above this bay, while the right-hand column contains shelving across several tiers.

The wardrobe was installed in bare, unfinished MDF before priming and painting. The completed exterior doors and face frames have a smooth, solid white painted finish with a low sheen.
