Custom Corner Wardrobe and Hallway Bookcase in Southfields, London

For this home in Southfields, Wandsworth, London, we built a floor-to-ceiling corner wardrobe and a fitted hallway bookcase. The wardrobe combines hanging space and shelving in an L-shaped arrangement, while the bookcase provides open storage beside a doorway.

Custom L-Shaped Wardrobe with Handleless Shaker Doors

The custom fitted wardrobe follows the corner of the room, with four Shaker-style panel doors enclosing the storage. Push-to-open fittings allow the doors to remain handleless, combining framed detailing with a simple, modern appearance.

We made the doors and outer frame from cabinet-grade MDF, painted dark charcoal grey with a low-sheen finish. White melamine-faced interiors provide a smooth, wipe-clean surface inside the wardrobe.

The left-hand section contains a tall shelving column for linen or shoes, with wall sockets accommodated within the cupboard. On the right, split hanging rails, upper storage and partitioned shelving divide the space for clothing and other belongings. Chrome-plated steel rails and concealed hinges complete the internal fittings.

Custom Hallway Bookcase with Angled Shelves

We also made a tall custom open bookcase to fit between a doorway architrave and the adjoining wall return. Angled shelving compartments shape the unit around this narrow position while keeping the hallway route clear.

The MDF bookcase has a warm mustard-yellow painted finish. Its open compartments provide storage for books and display pieces, with the colour adding a distinct feature beside the doorway.
