Custom Alcove Units and Fitted Wardrobes in Heathfield, East Sussex

For this home in Heathfield, East Sussex, we built alcove cabinetry and floor-to-ceiling fitted wardrobes. The project combines open shelving, enclosed cupboard storage and wardrobe interiors with separate spaces for folded and hanging clothes. The joinery was left unpainted.

Custom Alcove Cabinets with Open Shelving

Our custom-made alcove units fit into the recesses on either side of the fireplace. One side has built-in open shelving above a double-door base cabinet. The opposite alcove contains a matching low cabinet with a single floating shelf above it.

Both base cabinets have recessed-panel doors, round wooden knobs and projecting tops. A moulded cornice finishes the taller shelving unit, while the floating shelf leaves open wall space above the other cabinet. Together, the units provide enclosed storage below and space for books or display pieces above.

Custom Fitted Wardrobes with Shelving and Hanging Rails

We also built custom fitted wardrobes with tall Shaker-style doors and round wooden knobs. One installation combines two columns of open storage compartments on the left with double hanging rails on the right. An upper shelf provides additional storage above the rails.

A second wardrobe has a long-hanging compartment beside a section with two hanging rails, with upper shelves above both. These different interiors provide space for folded clothing, shorter garments and longer items behind matching panelled doors.
