Custom Fitted Alcove Wardrobes in Mortlake, London

For this home in Mortlake, London, we built two custom MDF wardrobes in the alcoves on either side of the fireplace. Plain doors and push-to-open fittings give the cabinetry a modern appearance, with hanging rails, shelves and drawers providing different types of clothing storage.

Plain MDF Wardrobes with Push-to-Open Doors

We made both fitted wardrobes to suit their alcoves, extending the cabinetry close to the ceiling. Each unit includes a pair of upper cupboard doors above the main storage sections.

The plain fronts and push-to-open fittings create a handleless design across both wardrobes. Matching doors and surrounding panels connect the two units visually, while the storage arrangement differs on each side of the fireplace.

Hanging Space, Shelving and Drawers

In the left-hand wardrobe, one section contains two hanging rails at different heights. The neighbouring section provides taller hanging space above lower shelves, allowing longer and shorter clothing to be stored separately.

The right-hand unit combines a tall column of internal shelves with a separate shelved cupboard, two open compartments and three drawers. The drawers sit beneath the open shelves and can be reached without opening the cupboard doors. Together, the two installations provide hanging space and separate compartments for folded clothing and smaller belongings.
