Custom Wardrobe, Study Desk and Media Wall in Egham

For this home in Egham, we built a three-door alcove wardrobe, an L-shaped study desk and a floating media wall. The project combines hanging and drawer storage with open shelving, illuminated display space and decorative wall finishes.

Custom Shaker Wardrobe and L-Shaped Study Desk

The full-height custom Shaker wardrobe has three tall doors topped with decorative crown moulding. Two main internal bays contain open shelving, chrome hanging rails at several levels and four pull-out drawers.

We used standard 18mm MDF for the internal carcass, shelving partitions and drawer assemblies, with moisture-resistant MDF externally and applied Shaker frames on the doors. Small wooden knobs, concealed 35mm European-style soft-close hinges and heavy-duty drawer slides complete the fittings.

The built-in L-shaped study desk combines a wood-grain desktop with lower cupboard and drawer pedestals and overhead display shelving. The wood-effect high-pressure laminate worktop has matching PVC edge banding.

Moisture-resistant MDF forms the lower cabinet bases, upper shelving frames and dividers. Recessed warm-white LED puck lights sit beneath the overhead shelf, while soft-close cupboard hinges and traditional wooden drawer knobs finish the storage below.

Custom Floating Media Wall with an Illuminated Glass Display Cabinet

The custom floating media wall features a long wall-mounted credenza beneath a book-matched marble-effect backdrop. Polished acrylic panels sit behind the TV mounting area, alongside real oak-veneered acoustic slats on black felt backing.

The MDF credenza has a light wood-tone finish and push-to-open drop-down doors fitted with gas-strut stays. A continuous LED strip runs beneath the floating base, lighting the floor below.

The display cabinet has a powder-coated black aluminium frame and toughened clear glass doors. Warm-white LED strips beneath each shelf illuminate the interior.
