Custom Built-In Wardrobes with Desk in Kew, Richmond

For this bedroom project in Kew, our team built two fitted wardrobes with a study desk between them. The original concept came from another designer, and Wood Fairy helped refine the construction details so the design could be made and installed within the room. Bringing the three elements together created a fitted wall with clothing storage on both sides and a dedicated work area in the centre.

Built-In Wardrobe Interiors with Egger Melamine

We made the wardrobe interiors from Egger melamine, using the wood-effect finish across the carcasses, shelves and drawer fronts. Hanging rails provide room for garments, while shelves and wide drawers separate folded clothing and smaller items.

The two interiors were arranged differently, so each wardrobe has its own balance of hanging, shelving and drawer storage. The custom wardrobes were sized to the wall and coordinated with the central desk rather than treated as separate units.

Wallpaper-Panelled Wardrobe Doors and Built-In Desk

The painted MDF doors feature inset wallpaper panels framed by detailed mouldings, giving both wardrobes a decorative frontage. Long handles sit within the stepped panel design and keep the doors easy to open. 

Between the wardrobes, we built a desk with two drawers and clear knee space. It uses the same made-to-measure thinking as our custom office carpentry services, giving the client a study area without adding a separate desk to the bedroom.
